Well that's interesting!
A Conservative, Lake was elected three times to the legislature of the North-West Territories and twice federally in Qu'Appelle. After his defeat in 1911, he served as the third lieutenant-governor of Saskatchewan from 1915 to 1921, after which he retired from politics and moved to Victoria. He was on board the SS Athenia when it was sunk by a German U-boat in September 1939, but both he and his wife survived.
