Huband, an unelected Manitoba Liberal, and Kenneth Ranney, an unelected social democratic and climate activist in Ontario, are the oldest known candidates to have run in an election — at least so far in PoliCan. Huband was 87 years old when he ran for his fourth and last time in 2019, as was Ranney on his fifth and last try, also in 2019. Huband died in 2023, aged 93 years and 3 months, while Ranney is believed to be still alive.
