Well that's interesting!
Sauvé was not only one of the first three women from Quebec elected to the Canadian Parliament (Ahuntsic, 1972–1979; Laval-des-Rapides, 1979–1984); she was also the first woman Speaker of the House of Commons (1980–1984) and first woman Governor General of Canada (1984–1990). She died three years after leaving the GG position.
