Well that's interesting!
One of the most conservative Reform / Canadian Alliance / current Conservative Party of Canada members, Hanger booked a trip to Singapore in March 1996 to investigate its use of caning in deterring crime, but he was forced to cancel the trip after public outcry and criticism from within the party. (Odd, huh? Such a wonderful idea for Canada...)
