Well that's interesting!
Up until the late 20th century, parliamentarians dying while still representing a riding happened far more frequently than it does today. To illustrate the extent: Ferguson, an Ontario Liberal, became the MPP for Kent East after Daniel McCraney had died. Sixteen years later, in his fifth mandate, Ferguson was the one who died, and was replaced by another Liberal, John Lee.
