Well that's interesting!
Macdonald was the first woman from Prince Edward Island elected to the Canadian Parliament. A Progressive Conservative, she was elected in a by-election in King's in May 1961, held after the death of her husband John. Re-elected in 1962, she lost the seat in the general election the next year.
