Well that's interesting!
In the first years of Confederation to as late as 1874, one could sit in both their provincial legislature and the federal parliament in what was known as the "double mandate." Blake is one of the most extreme examples: for several months in 1871–72, he was even the Liberal premier of Ontario while sitting as the MP for Bruce South and Durham West, eventually settling to sit only for Bruce South federally. He went on to sit in the British parliament from 1892 to 1907.
