Well that's interesting!
On October 27, 1977, Schmid's 21-year-old secretary, Victoria Breitkreusz, was shot and killed at the office by her ex-boyfriend, Gunther Hummel, who then committed suicide by shooting himself in the heart. Schmid, an Alberta Progressive Conservative minister, was not in the office when the incident occurred, as he was undergoing gall bladder surgery.
