Well that's interesting!
Perhaps few today remember Parent, who was the péquiste MNA for Bertrand for a single term in the Quebec National Assembly from 1985 to 1989. The Liberal Party won the general election hands down, taking 99 of the 122 seats at the time. However, Parent defeated by 229 votes the leader of the Liberal Party, Robert Bourassa, forcing the latter to run in a by-election the following month so that he could become premier.
