Known as Manitoba's first baker, Lusted was among those taken prisoner by Louis Riel in December 1869. He was forced to leave the country upon his release in February 1870, but when he returned to Manitoba later that year, he was one of the ex-prisoners who actively sought revenge for past mistreatment by persecuting the Métis. He served as an opposition member of the province's short-lived third assembly in 1879. |
