Well that's interesting!
With the Conservatives in disarray, Pattullo became the Liberal premier of British Columbia in 1933. Three elections later, in 1941, with the rise of the CCF, the Liberals decided to form a coalition with the Conservatives. Pattullo objected, so he was ousted as leader and premier. Both during and after his tenure as premier, he strongly objected to extending the vote franchise to Chinese and Japanese Canadians, once declaring that British Columbia could "never tolerate" a demand for such franchise. An important bridge spanning the Fraser River still bears his name. Should it?
