The decline of the British Columbia Social Credit Party began in 1991, after it lost power to the NDP for the 35th Legislature. It elected only seven members and became the second opposition party after the Liberals, and by the end of this legislature, Serwa was the only one who had remained in the Socred caucus, making him the last MLA for that party.
