Well that's interesting!
Brosseau is perhaps the most famous successful Canadian paper candidate so far in the 21st century. So certain was she that she would not win in Berthier—Maskinongé in the 2011 federal election, Brosseau, who was 27 at the time, never visited the riding and even went on vacation to Las Vegas midway through the campaign. But that was around the time NDP leader Jack Layton appeared on the popular TV show, Tout le monde en parle, and charmed the people of Québec. On election night, the NDP won 59 of the province's 75 ridings, including Brosseau's. She served two mandates, losing in 2019 and failing to regain her seat in 2021.
