Marceau, the Bloc Québécois MP for Charlesbourg from 1997 to 2006, converted to Judiasm in 2004, ten years after marrying Lori Beckerman. In a 2005 op-ed in the Ottawa Citizen, he described himself as a “pro-Palestinian Zionist,” and in 2011, he published a book entitled, A Quebec Jew, From Bloc Québécois MP To Jewish Activist.
