In 1977, Lalonde ran unsuccessfully for the Ontario Progressive Conservatives. In a twist of fate, two decades later, she was at the head of the successful campaign to keep Ottawa's Montfort Hospital opened, which the Harris Progressive Conservative government wanted to shut down. |
