Vous êtes-vous déjà demandé combien de personnes ont été élues au Parlement ou aux assemblées législatives depuis leur existence ? Eh bien, peut-être pas vous, mais moi oui ! Et c'est 14 280 personnes — 12 924 hommes, 1 351 femmes, et 5 personnes s'identifiant comme non-binaire. Parmis ces gens, 4 527 sont (ou seraient) encore en vie : 3 386 hommes, 1 136 femmes, et toutes les personnes non-binaires.

Ce tableau compte le nombre de personnes élues à une législature. Une personne élue à plus d'une législature est comptée pour chacune, mais le total est ensuite ajusté.

Si le nombre relativement petit de femmes élues est flagrant, il est intéressant de noter que la plupart d'entre elles (84.1%) sont encore en vie comparé à la moyenne (31.7%). Même si les femmes ont le droit de vote depuis un peu plus d'un siècle dans la plupart des juridictions, elles n'ont commencé à être élues en nombre plus important aux parlements que dans les années 1980, et la parité avec les hommes est encore très loin d'être atteinte.
