Let's see...Is a riding a stronghold for a given party, or one whose electoral thigh is rather light? As mentioned in the introduction of this section, that question can be difficult to answer given how ridings are moving targets. Ridings that we know today by a given name once covered a totally different geographical area. Nevertheless, this search engine can help you determine some trends.

Example: Since its existence in 1979 to 2025, the federal riding of Markham—Stouffville has always voted on the side of the government, except in the 1980 and 2006 general elections.
