While leader of the NDP opposition in Saskatchewan, Meili renewed his medical license in April 2020, during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and began working shifts at a testing and assessment centre in Saskatoon. He resigned as party leader in February 2022 and as an MLA in July, and the next year released a booked titled A Healthy Future: Lessons from the Frontlines of a Crisis, which details the impacts of the pandemic on the province and outlines possible lessons for future health crises. |
