Only eight months after turning 18, LeClaire ran as a Manitoba Progressive Conservative in the 1981 general election. He did not win, and did not run for office again after that. His obituary notes that "he was proud to have run and he often joked that he was probably the youngest candidate, who voting for the very first time, voted for himself!" |
